It stretches from the Pacific Ocean in the west to the Gulf of Mexico in the east and its total length is 1,954 miles (3,145 km).

Trump promised to build a “big, beautiful wall” along the southern border as part of his anti-immigration presidential campaign.

On February 15, 2019, President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency which allowed him to divert money to fund his long-promised wall. Since then, the Trump administration has pledged to erect or replace 450 to 500 miles of the wall by the end of 2020.

Controversial topic

Many American people disagree with it feeling that building a wall would send the wrong message about US immigration. Not to forget, the Statue of Liberty is known as the Immigrant’s Statue and it’s a representation of hope and welcomes to the millions of people who immigrated to the US through New York more than a century ago.
